How to Vote
If you are hospitalized 1-20 days before an election, follow these steps:
1. Get Your Application
Obtain an emergency mail ballot application. Complete ballot application. In Box B, list the hospital address where you are hospitalized AND the hospital room number. Under Box C, select Option 2: "I am confined in a hospital..."
2. Return Application
Return the ballot application to your Board of Canvassers by the day before the election, 4PM. You can have a friend, family member, or volunteer drop off this application at the Board of Canvassers.
3. Application Delivered
Your ballot will be delivered to you at the facility listed in Box B by a bipartisan pair of election officials from the State Board of Elections.
4. Vote!
The bipartisan team will turn in your completed ballot for you. *If you are a parent or guardian of a hospitalized pediatric patient and would like to vote, use the same application, and under Box C, select Option 4: “I choose to vote by mail.” Indicate the address of your local board of canvassers in Box B. Designate a friend, family member, or volunteer who can serve as your authorized messenger to pick up your ballot for you.
